The callbacks, at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Rose Center Theater in Westminster, are a prelude to this year's Music and Arts Commendations for Youth awards.

The Childress MACY awards show will be at noon May 27 at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa. The entire cast of "The Music Man" has been invited to perform "76 Trombones," and seniors Kevin Ivy and Alexa Greenberg were invited to perform in the awards gala's opening number.

Top performers will get a chance to go to New York for the National High School Musical Theater Awards on June 20-26.

M.A.C.Y. judges traveled to 42 musical productions at 33 Southern California schools this season.
